Description
The Shimano Alivio SL-M3100-L is the left-hand front shifter for 3x9-speed mountain bike drivetrains, giving you light, positive trigger shifting across a triple chainring. Built around Shimano's proven Rapidfire Plus mechanism, it puts crisp front changes and a clear gear readout right under your thumb and finger.
Highlights
- Controls the front triple (3-speed) chainring on a 3x9-speed Alivio drivetrain
- Rapidfire Plus action delivers light, defined lever feel for confident shifts
- 2-Way Release lets you change gear with either an index-finger pull or a thumb push
- Optical Gear Display shows your current chainring at a glance
- Clamp-band mounting fits standard handlebars and pairs neatly with brake levers
- Supplied with inner shift cable, ready to install
Easy, reliable front shifting
Rapidfire Plus is the trigger system that made Shimano shifting famous: a separate lever for each direction, with a light, mechanical click you can feel through gloves. The 2-Way Release adds flexibility, so you can drop to a lighter gear by pulling with your index finger or pushing with your thumb, whichever suits your hand position.
Always know your gear
The built-in Optical Gear Display sits on top of the shifter and shows which of the three front chainrings you are in, so you can pick the right gear without looking down at the cranks.
Compatibility & fit
This is the left lever, which on an Australian setup sits alongside the rear brake (braking and shifting are independent). It is the front shifter for a 3-speed (triple) chainring as part of a Shimano 3x9-speed Alivio M3100 drivetrain. It mounts via a clamp band on the handlebar and is supplied with an inner shift cable. Pair with a compatible Shimano front derailleur and 9-speed components for correct indexing.
